Kaiserslautern look doomed in Dresden

This is turning into a season to forget for Dynamo Dresden and Kaiserslautern in Bundesliga 2, but the home side look the stronger outfit in this battle of the basement.

Dresden have hardly been in great form on their own patch. They have not posted a home win since their first outing of the season when they carded a 1-0 success over Duisburg and four winless efforts in front of their own fans since does not paint a pretty picture.

However, there looks to be scope for improvement for the former East German giants, who are third from bottom in the table.

Their last two home games ended in draws against Ingolstadt and Eintracht Braunschweig, both of whom have loftier ambitions than simply avoiding relegation, and they have won at Heidenheim and Jahn Regensburg this term, two other struggling teams.

Their 3-0 defeat at leaders Holstein Kiel in their last match was perhaps closer than the scoreline suggests as they conceded two late goals.

Their issues seem a lot less grave than those Kaiserslautern are experiencing.

They are already eight points adrift of safety having won just one of their last 13 matches, and conceding 17 goals in their six away games does not bode well.

Striker Sebastian Andersson has scored five of their eight goals but the team's recent results suggest they could be in for another difficult evening.
