Friday's Serie A football predictions

Serie A wins the award for the most competitive title race across Europe's major leagues this season as Napoli and Inter are vying for the Scudetto in their final games on Friday.

The rest of the league's schedule takes place across the weekend so it is all about the title race on Friday as Napoli take on Cagliari and Como host Inter.

Napoli lead the way by a point and are 1-10 to secure the Scudetto, while Inter are 6-1 to get over the line given they must win and hope Napoli drop points.

There is even the outside chance of a second title playoff in Serie A history – Inter would need to draw and Napoli lose for the sides to finish level on points.

Napoli vs Cagliari predictions

Although they lead the way, Napoli have been far from convincing in recent weeks in Serie A and fans of the Partenopei will undoubtedly be sweating before their final match.

Within their last five games, Napoli scraped 1-0 wins over Monza and Lecce and drew with Genoa and Parma and they have been lacking in the final third.

Cagliari are safe from relegation but that means they could view this match as a free hit and they can make life tricky for the Naples club.

Napoli have averaged 2.33 points per game at home in Serie A and should ultimately win but they have won by more than one goal only twice in their last 17 assignments.

Inter fans can draw a bit of comfort from the fact Cagliari defender Gabriele Zappa this week insisted the players will "give their best" and "sweat for the shirt" and they will want to finish the season on a high note themselves.

Since the start of February, Cagliari have lost by one-goal margins against Lazio, Juventus, Bologna, Roma and Fiorentina and they may only just be edged by title-chasing Napoli.

Como vs Inter predictions

There is no doubt that Inter have the tougher of the two matches on Friday and there is no guarantee they will get over the line against Como.

Como are one of the in-form teams on the continent at the moment, having gone unbeaten in their last eight Serie A matches, winning six of them.

Admittedly the fixture list has been relatively kind to Cesc Fabregas's men but they have been a consistent threat throughout the season and will finish tenth regardless of this result.

With the talented Maxence Caqueret pulling the strings in midfield and Nico Paz contributing eight assists and six goals from the flank, there are undoubtedly ways they can hurt Inter, who have not been at their sharpest in the last couple of months.

Most recently Inter drew 2-2 with Lazio, throwing away the chance to take the initiative at the top given Napoli dropped points against Parma on the same day.

They could again be denied victory and Como look smart bet in the double-chance market.
