Bundesliga weekend predictions, odds & best tips: Dortmund clash could be a thriller
The Racing Post Sport team run the rule over all this weekend's matches in the German top flight

Champions Bayern Munich continue to dominate the Bundesliga, holding an eight-point lead with a third of the season in the books, and Stuttgart are the latest team tasked with stopping them on Saturday.
The Bavarians' closest pursuers, RB Leipzig, have won six straight home matches and will bid to remain in touch when they visit Frankfurt on Saturday evening, while the pick of Sunday's action comes from Signal Iduna Park, where Borussia Dortmund host Hoffenheim.
Bundesliga predictions & tips for this weekend’s matches
Mainz vs Borussia Monchengladbach
Kick-off: 7.30pm Friday
Monchengladbach are in form and should be backed to win away. They have won three of their last four Bundesliga matches, including their last two on the road, while Mainz have won only one of their last ten in the league. The hosts are having a nightmare season and are bottom of the Bundesliga.
Prediction: Borussia Monchengladbach
Heidenheim vs Freiburg
Kick-off: 2.30pm Saturday
Heidenheim are third from bottom in the Bundesliga and, having won only one of their opening six home games, more misery could follow at the hands of Freiburg. The visitors have lost only two of their last nine away games and those defeats were at Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen.
Prediction: Freiburg
Cologne vs St Pauli
Kick-off: 2.30pm Saturday
Cologne made a bright start to their Bundesliga return but their form has since fizzled out, with a rough spell for the Billy Goats yielding just one win in six league games. However, St Pauli are on a nine-match losing streak in the Bundesliga and Cologne can return to winning ways.
Prediction: Cologne
Augsburg vs Bayer Leverkusen
Kick-off: 2.30pm Saturday
Bayer Leverkusen's only defeats under Kasper Hjulmand have come against Bayern Munich, PSG and Dortmund and their excellent form should continue at Augsburg. Leverkusen can make it six wins in seven for themselves and six losses in seven for their hosts.
Prediction: Bayer Leverkusen
Stuttgart vs Bayern Munich
Kick-off: 2.30pm Saturday
Bayern's 3-2 win at Union Berlin in the German Cup on Wednesday was their fifth straight away game with goals at both ends and the high-scoring trend can continue at Stuttgart. The hosts have won their last eight matches at the MHP Arena and will be a tough nut to crack.
Prediction: Both teams to score
Wolfsburg vs Union Berlin
Kick-off: 2.30pm Saturday
Wolfsburg remain winless after six home Bundesliga games, having suffered four defeats, and they look difficult to trust against Union Berlin. The visitors have won on away trips to Eintracht Frankfurt and St Pauli this season and could strike a telling blow at the Volkswagen Arena.
Prediction: Union Berlin
RB Leipzig vs Eintracht Frankfurt
Kick-off: 5.30pm Saturday
Although they are eight points off the summit, Leipzig are Bayern Munich's closest challengers in the Bundesliga and they can show their quality against Frankfurt, who will be without star striker Jonathan Burkardt. Leipzig have won six straight home games and should make it 11 victories in 14.
Prediction: RB Leipzig
Hamburg vs Werder Bremen
Kick-off: 2.30pm Sunday
Hamburg have taken ten points from their last five home Bundesliga games and they can make the most of their familiar surroundings against Werder Bremen. The visitors are winless in four on the road and this looks like another tricky trip for them.
Prediction: Hamburg
Borussia Dortmund vs Hoffenheim
Kick-off: 4.30pm Sunday
Borussia Dortmund have recorded seven victories in 12 Bundesliga games this season, suffering only one defeat, and should prove too strong for Hoffenheim at Signal Iduna Park. That said, the visitors are on a good run of form themselves and they have scored in all eight away games this season.
Prediction: Borussia Dortmund to win & both teams to score
