Match preview

An eighth successive Bundesliga title awaits Bayern Munich, who could get the job done in the absence of their star man this weekend.

If Borussia Dortmund lose to Fortuna Dusseldorf, the Bavarians can seal the title at the Allianz Arena against Borussia Monchengladbach but go into the game without 30-goal striker Robert Lewandowski and assist king Thomas Muller.

That may encourage punters to side with Gladbach but it is worth noting Bayern have won all five of their matches without Lewandowski this campaign and they have not been short of goals in those games either, beating Tottenham 3-1 and Hoffenheim 6-0 without the Pole in the team.

Youngster Joshua Zirkzee is expected to lead the line and is accomplished enough to polish off the silky moves of Leon Goretzka, Ivan Perisic, Kingsley Coman and Alphonso Davies, who are all expected to feature.

Munich have been irrepressible under Hansi Flick, winning 16 of their last 17 matches in all competitions, and should be in good spirits after booking their place in the German Cup final in midweek.

Punters should therefore expect another ruthless showing from a team who have netted 48 goals in their 15 home matches this season against a Gladbach side who have wobbled recently.

The visitors will be without key forward Alassane Plea and the absence of industrious Denis Zakaria hinders them in the defensive department.

Gladbach are typically disciplined under Marco Rose but have only one clean sheet in five matches since the restart and imploded in their last clash against top-five opposition, losing 3-1 to Bayer Leverkusen.

A performance like that away to the best team in the league is only going to end one way and Bayern look a solid bet giving up a goal on the handicap.

Key stat

Bayern Munich have scored 15 goals in their last four league encounters.
