The low-grade Sanderson Farms Championship, running alongside the WGC in China as a US Tour event for lesser lights, looks like a golden opportunity for a talented set of local lads to threaten a breakthrough victory.

The most appealing option of all is Bobby Wyatt, a born-and-bred Alabama man who can hop over the border to Mississippi this week with a strong amateur record behind him. Wyatt fired a jaw-dropping round of 57 en route to winning the 2010 Alabama Junior Championship at the age of 17, then he was top scorer in the 2013 Walker Cup.

Wyatt was clearly identified as a potential superstar at a young age, some invites to US Tour events coming in 2014, one of which was the Sanderson Farms. He was not ready to mix it with the big boys and missed the cut by three shots, but that was useful course experience which can help the Alabama slammer make more of an impact two years later.
