Jordan Spieth started this week freely available at 10-1 for the Tour Championship, but a sustained gamble on the defending champion has seem him shorten across the board, with punters left taking 8-1 this morning as his tee-time fast approaches.

Spieth could be backed at 11-1 when Tour Championship prices were first issued in the wake of the field being finalised 11 days ago, but the American superstar is just 7-1 in places today as bookmakers react to the weight of money being wagered on him.

The tournament starts at 4.40pm UK and Ireland time today, with Spieth teeing off at 6.30pm in the company of European Ryder Cup reject Russell Knox. A bullish media conference from Spieth at the Tour Championship venue on Tuesday did nothing to halt the intense betting interest in the former world number one.
