The Europa League final offers a golden opportunity for Manchester United and Tottenham to save their season and bookmakers rate Ruben Amorim's side narrow favourites to see off Spurs in Bilbao on May 21.

United, who are best at 5-6 with Betfair and Paddy Power to lift the trophy,  won 4-1 against Athletic on Thursday, scoring four times in the final 20 minutes to progress 7-1 on aggregate, while Spurs saw off Bodo/Glimt 2-0 to land a 5-1 aggregate success over the Norwegian surprise package and set up an all-Premier League shootout in Spain. The winners will qualify for next season's Champions League.

The finalists have had miserable domestic campaigns as United are 15th in the Premier League on 39 points, one place and one point above Tottenham, but most of those failings will be forgiven if the trophy is lifted a week on Wednesday.

Tottenham, 11-10 to claim their first piece of European silverware since 1984, have the edge in terms of recent meetings after beating United three times this season, twice in the league and once in the EFL Cup quarter-final.

Spurs were excellent when hammering United 3-0 at Old Trafford in September and were vastly superior even before Bruno Fernandes' red card on 42 minutes, while the Red Devils had an injury crisis when going down to a James Maddison strike in the return in February. The cup tie was a Christmas cracker in north London - Spurs led 3-0 at one stage but were on the ropes after a quickfire United double before Heung-Min Son's goal direct from a corner settled Tottenham nerves.

Spurs have not lifted a trophy since February 2008 and suffered a Champions League final loss to Liverpool in 2019, whereas United have won three Premier League titles, two FA Cups, four League Cups, a Champions League and Europa League in that period.

Chelsea are 4-11 to win the Conference League with Real Betis at 9-4 ahead of their final in Poland on May 28.
