Bodo/Glimt vs Tottenham predictions
Tottenham were utterly dominant in claiming a 3-1 first-leg lead in this Europa League semi-final with Norwegian underdogs Bodo/Glimt, but a very different evening awaits the Premier League outfit on a plastic pitch on the southern edge of the Arctic Circle.
Ange Postecoglou’s men won the shot count 24-3 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last Thursday and had enough chances to put the tie firmly to bed.
However, an 83rd-minute consolation strike from Ulrik Saltnes, which was Glimt’s only effort on target, may have set things up for a dramatic evening at an intimate Aspmyra Stadion.
The 8,500-seater venue provides a cramped atmosphere and, while the weather is not expected to be as freezing as is often the case, playing conditions may take some adjusting to.
Tottenham already experienced similar in this season’s FA Cup, when National League Tamworth took them to extra-time on their artificial surface, and Glimt have turned their home surroundings into a fortress in the Europa League.
History is against the underdogs – a two-goal first-leg semi-final deficit has not been overturned since the competition was rebranded as the Europa League in 2009-10 – but they may still merit consideration in the draw-no-bet market.
Glimt have won six of their seven home matches in the Europa League this term, accounting for Maccabi Tel-Aviv, FC Twente, last season’s Conference League winners Olympiakos and Lazio on their own patch, all by a margin of at least two goals.
Kjetil Knutsen’s side are a completely different proposition at Aspmyra, and they will be much stronger for the return leg as captain Patrick Berg, Hakon Evjen and Andreas Helmersen all return from suspension.
While Spurs evidently have the attacking quality to rise to the challenge, this will be a big test of their mental strength and Postecoglou will be feeling the pressure given the reports suggesting his time in north London could be up regardless of what happens in this competition.
Matters are still in Tottenham’s hands, but they have won only two of their last ten Premier League games and have already been beaten on trips to Galatasaray and AZ Alkmaar in this season’s Europa League.
Glimt are Norway's first-ever representative in a European semi-final and can enjoy the occasion, while potentially giving Tottenham a real scare in their bid to rescue a sorry season.

The Danish forward was unable to have an impact in the opening leg but he has seven goals in 13 Europa League appearances this season and should be keen to make amends.
Rodrigo Bentancur to be shown a card
