Bertasio looks overpriced to start well in old country
Italian Open favourite Martin Kaymer is joined by Ryder Cup colleagues Danny Willett and Matthew Fitzpatrick for the opening round at Golf Club Milano this afternoon.
Kaymer, a 12-1 chance for outright glory, was handed a wildcard place by Darren Clarke for the match against the United States later this month. Masters champion Willett and Nordea Masters victor Fitzpatrick qualified automatically for the team.
The 12.40pm (UK and Ireland time) threeball should be a high-quality and competitive affair, with Kaymer, Willett and Fitzpatrick all proven on this course. The German was a playoff loser last year, while the English duo tied for third place.
