Attacking Levy set to entertain the Wentworth crowds

Alexander Levy enjoyed his trip to England in October, dazzling large galleries at the British Masters, and the French firebrand may entertain massive UK crowds again in this week's BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth.

Levy won the inaugural Hero World Challenge at The Grove, a floodlit par-three event on the eve of the British Masters in front of 2,200 spectators, then finished fourth in the 72-hole tournament on the full course.

Expect the attacking 26-year-old to put on another show in England this week, outscoring Pablo Larrazabal in the process.

Levy won the China Open on his last individual start, defeating Dylan Frittelli in a playoff, and a switch of coach has brought immediate results. In March, Levy started working with Pete Cowen, a tutor who helped Darren Clarke, Louis Oosthuizen, Graeme McDowell, Danny Willett and Henrik Stenson become Major champions.

Eighth place in the Shenzhen International followed – an event in which he played the final 54 holes in 15 under par – then he opened up in the China Open with a 63. Levy, 12^th and 51^st in his two previous Wentworth starts, has never been more confident and he will appreciate the course changes since his last visit.

A layout set up for birdies, as the PGA venue is this year, favours aggressive sorts like Levy. Larrazabal has been playing well, too, and finished third in the China Open, but Levy is eight years younger and has much more room for improvement.

Both men are tied on four European Tour victories, but Levy has by far the greater potential to increase that haul. Larrazabal's putting stroke is extremely fragile.

PGA favourites Justin Rose and Henrik Stenson have been separated in the draw. Rose is out early (8.25am) alongside Matthew Fitzpatrick and Ernie Els, while Stenson is late (12.50pm) with Branden Grace and Tommy Fleetwood for company.
