Match previews

Norway have missed out on automatic qualification for Euro 2020 despite losing just one of nine games in Group F but they can finish on a high note by defeating basement boys Malta.

The Norwegians are red-hot favourites but are odds-against to win a contest featuring under 3.5 goals.

Matches involving international minnows increase the chance of a high-scoring outcome but Malta defended reasonably well when losing 2-0 to Norway in Oslo in September.

They were hammered 7-0 by Spain in Cadiz on Friday, shipping five goals in the final 30 minutes.

But Norway are nowhere near as inventive as Spain and are without injured Real Madrid attacking midfielder Martin Odegaard (currently on loan with Real Sociedad), who is arguably their most talented player.

Ten of Norway's last 11 away games have featured no more than two goals, including a 2-0 success away to Faroe Islands, a team locked together with Malta with just three points from nine matches.

Norway have next year's playoffs to look forward to and are unlikely to take their foot off the gas but they may lack the quality to run up a big margin of victory.

Italy have breezed through qualification with nine straight victories and should sign off with a comfortable success over Armenia in Palermo.

Roberto Mancini has moulded the Azzurri into a more attacking side than has been the case with previous Italian teams.

But they are also solid at the back and have conceded just three goals in their last 11 competitive games.

Armenia have scored 13 goals in qualifying but 12 of those were against teams in the bottom four places in Group J.

They cannot call on injured captain Henrikh Mkhitaryan – scorer of 29 goals in 86 internationals – and may struggle to make an impact.
