Match preview
England have attracted a sell-out crowd for their Wembley friendly against Germany but there looks a decent chance that the home following will end up disappointed.
While the nation was gripped by Phil Neville's side marching to the World Cup semi-finals in the summer, performances and results have been mixed since they were beaten by winners the USA in the last four.
The Lionesses are not required to qualify for the 2021 European Championship as they will be hosts and they have not hit the heights in recent friendlies.
A 1-0 success against Portugal last time out against a team who did not make the party in France earlier this year was their first in eight games.
They surrendered a two-goal lead against Belgium when cruising in their first friendly of the campaign - they drew 3-3 - and Neville will be desperate for Saturday's atmosphere to lift his charges.
The Lionesses will at least be boosted by the return to fitness of striker Ellen White, who made a belated debut for Manchester City in their 1-0 defeat to Arsenal a fortnight ago.
But it looks as if Germany, who suffered a surprise World Cup quarter-final exit to Sweden, have not sustained their hangover, scoring a total of 31 goals in four qualifiers against Montenegro, Ukraine, who they have beaten 8-0 twice, and Greece.
England represent a step up in class from that opposition but their confidence should be sky high and they can potentially spoil the party.
