Wednesday's EFL predictions
Championship leaders Coventry have reeled off five straight victories for the first time since November and their progress towards promotion can continue with a victory over Preston at the CBS Arena.
There was a winter wobble from Frank Lampard's side, who collected just 15 points from a 12-game spell between the start of December and the end of January.
But the winning habit has been re-established and there was a noticeable calmness about Coventry at the weekend as they eased to a 2-0 triumph away to Bristol City despite the considerable inconvenience of Joel Latibeaudiere's 43rd-minute red card.
Coventry have been finding different ways to win and they may not be seriously tested by Preston, who have fallen off the playoff pace after taking just two points from the last five games.
Preston's slump continued on Friday with a 3-1 loss at home to relegation-threatened Oxford.
North End have had some eye-catching away results, including a 2-0 triumph at Southampton and a 1-1 draw at Ipswich, but standards have slipped in recent weeks and their trip to Coventry could turn into a damage limitation exercise.
Sheffield United's points tally (49) is the same as Preston, but they are more likely to mount a surge towards the top six and can take a step forward by defeating Norwich at Carrow Road.
The Blades are going to need a string of wins but they have had a strong few months with 39 points taken from their last 21 fixtures.
They are up against a Norwich side who have also moved on from a miserable start to the season.
However, Norwich's injury list has reached double figures and their depleted squad could be exposed by the Blades, who look overpriced for the away win.
League One highflyers Bradford have leaned heavily on their home form, but they can register a vital away win when taking on basement boys Port Vale in the Potteries.
The Bantams have registered just four of their 18 league wins away from Valley Parade, but they should have too much quality and energy for Vale, who may struggle to follow up Sunday's incredible 1-0 triumph over Sunderland in the FA Cup fifth round.
