Wednesday's preview

Blackburn's bright start to the season has faded quickly after three successive defeats but a return to winning ways looks probable in their Lancashire derby with injury-hit Blackpool at Bloomfield Road.

Jon Dahl Tomasson got off to a flying start as Blackburn's manager, taking them to the top of the Championship table with maximum points from their opening three games.

Fortunes have turned against Tomasson's troops more recently, although Saturday's 1-0 loss at home to Stoke was slightly unlucky given the general dominance of Rovers, who bossed the shot count 18 to eight.

A top-six finish remains Blackburn's ambition and they will have a better chance if they can retain Chilean attacker Ben Brereton Diaz beyond transfer deadline day.

Blackpool are just a point worse off but they conceded an injury-time equaliser in Saturday's 3-3 draw at home to Bristol City and approach the midweek contest with a mounting absentee list.

On loan Liverpool defender Rhys Williams was forced off at the weekend and a patched up Tangerines' backline may struggle to keep Blackburn at bay.

Alex Neil looked on from the stands as Stoke triumphed 1-0 at Blackburn on Saturday and the newly installed Potters' boss can steer his side to a victory over Swansea at the bet365 Stadium.

Neil's sudden switch from Sunderland to the Potteries has not gone down well on Wearside, but the 41-year-old is a talented manager and he shouldn't take long to tap into the potential of an underachieving Stoke squad.

Stoke are aiming to push for a playoff place and should have a better season than Swansea, who continue to be unsettled by transfer speculation.

Swans' boss Russell Martin is unable to confirm whether or not key striker Joel Piroe is going to be retained, and Martin's defence is weakened by central defender Ben Cabango's one-match ban.

Swansea have started the season poorly, taking five points from a possible 18, and another loss is on the cards.
