Best bets for Wednesday's 7.45pm EFL kick-offs

There are three more Championship matches being streamed on Sky Sports+ on Wednesday evening and Sheffield United can bolster their strong start to the season with victory over Swansea at Bramall Lane.

The Blades were held to a goalless draw at Portsmouth, which stretched their unbeaten start in the Championship to seven games, on Saturday and that was a fourth straight clean sheet for Chris Wilder’s men.

Sheffield United have ground out 1-0 wins in their last two home league games against Watford and Derby and it could be a similar story against Swansea, who have conceded only five times in their opening seven second-tier fixtures.

However, the Swans were second best in Sunday’s 1-1 draw at home to Bristol City and they have suffered narrow 1-0 defeats in two of their three away trips at Middlesbrough and West Brom.

Preston’s clash with Watford looks like a tricky betting heat but there could be value in opposing an out-of-sorts Stoke side at odds-on when they entertain second-bottom Portsmouth.

The Potters have lost five of their last six league games and are only two points better off than Pompey, who have had a horrible set of opening fixtures.

Despite that, Portsmouth have secured draws against Leeds, Luton, Middlesbrough and Sheffield United this season and they can avoid defeat at the bet365 Stadium.
