Tuesday's betting preview

Confidence in the Cambridge camp has been severely dented by seven defeats in their last eight League One games and more misery may await them at Wycombe.

Cambridge suffered their fifth consecutive defeat at home to Port Vale on Saturday, a game in which they failed to register a single shot on target, and absences are of increasing concern to manager Mark Bonner.

The out-of-form U’s have netted only once in their last five outings and that lack of firepower could prove costly at Wycombe, who will be feeling much happier about things following three straight league successes.

The Chairboys defended resolutely in a hard-fought 1-0 win at MK Dons on Saturday and their last home outing saw them record a convincing 3-1 victory over fourth-placed Peterborough.

In League Two, take Tranmere to get back on the winning trail at home to Rochdale.

Rovers were frustrated in a 1-1 draw at Harrogate on Saturday but they had won five in a row to nil prior to that stalemate and are going seriously under the radar.

Micky Mellon’s men are notoriously strong at Prenton Park, where they have taken maximum points in four of their six outings, and they should have the measure of third-bottom Dale.

Jim Bentley’s appointment has sparked a revival at Rochdale but they were beaten 2-1 at home by Wimbledon on Saturday and this rates a significantly tougher test.
