Tuesday's betting preview

First meets second in the Championship on Tuesday night as table-topping Reading head to Bramall Lane to take on Sheffield United.

It’s easy to see why Paul Heckingbottom’s Blades have been chalked up as favourites given they have won all three home games this term and the Royals have already failed to score in away defeats to Blackpool and Rotherham. But quotes of 5-1 about the Royals may be a little disrespectful to Paul Ince's highflyers.

There are better betting opportunities in the second tier though, starting with Norwich's trip to Birmingham.

The Canaries are up and running after a sloppy start to the season and are seeking a fourth straight league win at St Andrew's.

No Championship side has had as many shots as Norwich, who have racked up 98 efforts across their opening six games, while Birmingham are finding goals hard to come by.

The Blues have failed to score in four of their six outings this term and were beaten 2-0 at Rotherham on Saturday, which came on the back of a 1-0 loss at home to Wigan, who had been reduced to ten men inside the opening ten minutes.

Both QPR and Hull recorded 3-2 wins on Saturday, and goals may be the way to go again when they meet at Loftus Road.

The Tigers appear to have discovered a gem in seven-goal striker Oscar Estupinan but defensively they look flawed and both teams have scored in six of their seven games this term.

QPR have conceded in each of their six Championship starts but have plenty of attacking quality of their own and should play a part in a lively encounter.

Elsewhere in the Championship, Burnley host Millwall, Cardiff entertain Luton while West Brom head to Wigan hoping to record a first away win of the season.

There are also 28 matches taking place in the EFL Trophy as well as four Scottish League Cup last-16 ties, with Glaswegian giants Rangers hosting League One outfit Queen of the South live on Premier Sports.

Gers may ring the changes ahead of Saturday's Old Firm derby trip to Celtic but should still have enough quality to ease past their inferior opposition. Giovanni van Bronckhorst's side are 8-5 with bet365 to win by four or more goals.
