Coventry are one of two unbeaten teams in the Championship and will aim to stay that way by targeting a positive result against Birmingham at the CBS Arena.

The Sky Blues made the short trip to Leicester last weekend and came away with a satisfactory 0-0 draw. They are level on points with Birmingham, who returned to winning ways last weekend with a 1-0 triumph at home to Swansea.

Coventry vs Birmingham preview

Coventry's progress has stalled with three successive draws but they can rediscover the winning feeling by defeating Birmingham in an eagerly anticipated Midlands derby.

Frank Lampard's Sky Blues were content enough with a 0-0 outcome at Leicester last weekend, but their overall ten-point tally is a scant return given the quality of their football over the opening six rounds of the campaign.

Coventry top the Championship's goal charts, the expected goals table and the shot count with tallies of 15 and 13.66 and 111.

They have felt short-changed on a number of occasions and were especially frustrated by this month's 1-1 draw with Norwich, having won the shot count 28-4 and the xG 4.02-0.15.

The Sky Blues are unlikely to be quite as dominant against Birmingham, but they look a decent value bet at a shade of odds-against.

Birmingham were among the best backed clubs in ante-post markets and are off to a reasonable start with ten points on the board.

However, they have noticed a substantial step up in class since winning the League One title and have gone through a couple of tough experiences on the road with losses against Leicester (0-2) and Stoke (0-1).

Chris Davies's side struggled to create clear-cut chances on each of those occasions and it may take them a little time to work out how to be more effective on their travels.

The Blues have invested heavily in all areas of the squad but, having scored just five league goals, there are a few question marks over their offensive capabilities.

Club record signing Jay Stansfield and regular substitute Lyndon Dykes have bagged two goals each, but Kyogo Furuhashi is not living up to the hype and hasn't started a game since the end of August.

Davies needs to find the right offensive formula and his team's fortunes could suffer until they get the right mix.

Coventry showed their defensive prowess at Leicester last weekend, but they will take more a front-foot approach this weekend and can clinch their third league win of the campaign.

Paik may pick up a card

Birmingham head coach Chris Davies usually selects a two-man midfield and his approach demands a lot of industry from his favoured pairing of Paik Sung-Ho and Tomoki Iwata. Paik has already collected two cautions and looks overpriced to add to his card count.

Blunt Blues to draw a blank

Birmingham were League One's top scorers last season with 84 goals, but they are finding it much harder to breach Championship defences. The Blues have blanked in their last two away games, losing on both occasions, and may go through a similar experience this weekend.

Coventry vs Birmingham Bet Builder

Haji Wright to score any time

Coventry possess multiple attacking threats, but Wright has been the talisman, scoring five league goals, and could be the difference maker in the derby.

Jack Rudoni to have a shot on target

Rudoni loves to rampage forward from midfield and he tops the second tier shot count with 21 attempts.

Under four goals

Birmingham have been involved in a series of low-scoring games and they can avoid a heavy defeat against the Sky Blues.
