Match preview

Cardiff have been sliding towards the Championship relegation zone after six games without a victory but they can spring a surprise by winning at Blackburn.

Blackburn have not been out of the top six since mid-October but they have looked more like relegation candidates in recent weeks.

Jon Dahl Tomasson's side have lost five of their last six matches, including three defeats on home soil, and must negotiate the Cardiff contest without midfielder John Buckley, who was sent off during Thursday's 2-1 loss at home to Middlesbrough.

Rovers played almost half of that Boro clash a man down and it is far from ideal that they return to action just three days later.

Cardiff should sense an opportunity and can at least build from a solid defensive structure, having secured 0-0 draws at home to QPR and away to Coventry.

Scoring goals has been a problem, but Cardiff have taken five points from their last three road trips and they look the likelier winners in Lancashire.
