Wayne Rooney's international career appears to be over after the captain was left out of the England squad for the June fixtures away to Scotland and France.

Rooney is 7-1 with Hills to play at next summer's World Cup finals and bet365 go 4-1 that he is part of Gareth Southgate's squad in Russia, so the Manchester United forward looks set to fall short of breaking Peter Shilton's all-time appearance record for England.

Shilton finished on 125 caps, six more than Rooney's current tally of 119 but the 31-year-old had looked well on course to go past the legendary goalkeeper when bet365 quoted him at just 1-5 to break the record in September 2015.

However, Rooney has fallen down the United pecking order and Southgate has decided to go for form over sentiment.

Jermain Defoe, who is 2-1 with bet365 to be in the World Cup squad, gets another chance to impress alongside Harry Kane, Marcus Rashford and Jamie Vardy.

Rooney will probably have to leave United to try to force his way back into Southgate's plans, although Hills are 5-4 that he signs for a Chinese outfit before the end of the summer transfer window.

It's 7-4 that Rooney returns to his former club Everton and 7-2 that he sticks around at United, who will be playing Champions League football next season following their 2-0 win over Ajax in the Europa League final in Stockholm.

United can be backed at 16-1 with bet365, Betway and Hills to win Europe's premier club competition in 2018.

Garry Monk has resigned from his position as manager of Sky Bet Championship club Leeds and was immediately installed in the betting for a number of other managerial posts.

Monk was being suggested as Crystal Palace's next manager and a possible runner in the charge to replace Walter Mazzarri at Watford.

However, soon afterwards Monk was being strongly linked with a switch to Middlesbrough. He is 4-6 with Sky Bet to be at the Riverside for the opening match of next season.

Attention now turns to Monk's replacement at Leeds with Aitor Karanka a warm order for the Elland Road job at 6-4 with Coral. The Spaniard is odds-on elsewhere.

Eden Hazard is 9-2 favourite with Ladbrokes and Coral to be man of the match in Saturday's FA Cup final. Chelsea are 4-9 to lift the trophy after facing Arsenal at Wembley.
