Derby County are 5-1 for promotion from the Sky Bet Championship after agreeing a deal to bring Wayne Rooney in as player-coach as of January.

The forward is currently plying his trade at MLS club DC United, where he has scored 23 goals in 41 league appearances.

Crystal Palace have signed free agent and former Chelsea defender Gary Cahill on a two-year deal but key forward Wilfried Zaha could be edging closer to a move away from Selhurst Park.

Sky Bet rate the Ivorian 1-2 to sign for free-spending Everton before September 3 after reports suggested the Toffees are plotting a £100-million package deal involving Cenk Tosun and James McCarthy moving in the other direction.

Everton have already captured Mainz defensive midfielder Jean-Philippe Gbamin and Juventus starlet Moise Kean in the last week and are a best-priced 4-1 to break into the top six this campaign.

Liverpool's Under-21s are set to play their first ever EFL Trophy match when they take on Oldham and there could be a run out for highly-rated midfielder Ovie Ejaria, who has impressed in loan spells at Sunderland, Rangers and Reading.
