Free EFL football tips for Tuesday's matches including Cardiff City v West Brom, Leeds United v Millwall, Accrington Stanley v Peterborough United, Lincoln City v Portsmouth & Rotherham United v Ipswich Town.

Cardiff City v West Brom

Where to watch

Sky Sports red button, 7.45pm Tuesday

Best bet

Cardiff draw no bet
1pt 6-5 Betfair, Paddy Power

Verdict

A largely second-string West Brom side won 1-0 at West Ham in the FA Cup fourth round on Saturday but their strongest available team could be defeated in Cardiff.

The Baggies will be weaker in attack without injured winger Grady Diangana and suspended attacking midfielder Matheus Pereira and they could be out-muscled by the physical Bluebirds, who have lost just one Sky Bet Championship home game this season.

Leeds United v Millwall

Where to watch

Sky Sports red button, 7.45pm Tuesday

Best bet

Leeds-Leeds double result
1pt 11-8 Coral

Verdict

Leeds have had ten days to refocus and can get their Sky Bet Championship promotion push back on track by defeating Millwall at Elland Road.

Marcelo Bielsa's side have won just one of their last eight games but they have a strong squad and their mini-break should enable them to rediscover their intensity.

Playoff-chasing Millwall are a hard side to beat but the trip to Leeds is one of their toughest assignments of the campaign.

Accrington Stanley v Peterborough United 7.45pm

Best bet

Peterborough
2pts 9-5 bet365

Verdict

Peterborough's Sky Bet League One promotion hopes have been revitalised by back-to-back wins and the Posh look overpriced to net another three points against struggling Accrington.

Outspoken Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony reacted to his team's recent 1-0 loss at Wimbledon by promising to step down if the club fail to reach the playoffs.

His threat seems to have done the trick because the Posh, who had gone seven games without a win, have responded with victories at home to promotion rivals Wycombe (4-0) and Rotherham (2-1).

Peterborough have not managed three successive victories since October, but they should fancy their chances against 17th-placed Stanley, who are eight points above the drop zone.

Accrington put in a decent performance to draw 1-1 at Burton on Saturday but they have lost to strugglers Rochdale and Southend in their last two home fixtures and may struggle to cope with the division's top scorers.

Lincoln City v Portsmouth 7.45pm

Best bet

Portsmouth draw no bet
2pts Evs Sky Bet

Verdict

Portsmouth have recovered superbly from a slow start in League One and can climb into the top six for the first time this season by beating Lincoln at Sincil Bank.

Kenny Jackett's side stretched their winning sequence to five with a 4-2 victory at home to Barnsley in the FA Cup fourth round.

Just three of their 11 league wins have come on the road but they are gaining confidence on their travels.

Since the turn of the year they have posted three away wins in three different competitions – helping them reach the last eight in the EFL Trophy and the last 16 in the FA Cup – but promotion is their priority and they are well-placed just seven points behind leaders Ipswich, who have played two games more.

More than half of the division are in promotion contention, including 12th-placed Lincoln, who have won nine of their 12 home league games.

However, the Imps were nowhere near their best when losing 1-0 at Ipswich on Saturday and will have to do better to cope with Portsmouth, who look genuine top-two contenders.

Rotherham United v Ipswich Town 7.45pm

Best bet

Ipswich +0.25 on Asian handicap
1pt 21-20 bet365

Verdict

Ipswich replaced Rotherham on top of League One with a well-deserved 1-0 victory at home to Lincoln on Saturday and they can stay above the Millers by avoiding defeat at the New York Stadium.

The turn of the year has perked up the Tractor Boys, who failed to win any of their last seven league games of 2019.

In 2020 they have collected 11 points from a possible 15 and the two draws in that run - 1-1 at Wycombe and 0-0 at Oxford - were decent results.

Paul Lambert's side have looked more comfortable since switching to a back three for the Wycombe clash on New Year's Day and they are playing as well as at any stage of the season.

Rotherham are also going strongly but were beaten 2-1 at Peterborough on Saturday and may find it difficult to bounce back.
