Cristiano Ronaldo 15-2 to mark his return to Manchester United with a hat-trick
Bookmakers wary of goal-hungry veteran at Old Trafford
Newcastle have the dubious honour of visiting Old Trafford for Cristiano Ronaldo's second Manchester United debut and the Portuguese legend is 15-2 with Coral and Ladbrokes to score a hat-trick against the Magpies.
Ronaldo took home the match ball the last time he faced Newcastle at Old Trafford, scoring three times in a 6-0 Premier League win for the Red Devils in 2008, and all eyes are on the returning hero this weekend.
Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said on Friday that Ronaldo "will definitely be on the pitch at some point" against Newcastle and the hosts are 2-9 for victory.
Bet365 are offering a more competitive betting heat, quoting Ronaldo at 7-4 to outscore the 15-8 visitors on his own with the draw no bet. Ladbrokes go 8-1 that he scores a free kick against Newcastle, 3-1 that he converts a penalty, and 5-1 that he finds the net with a header.
More than 12 years after he left the Premier League for Real Madrid, the 36-year-old retains an insatiable hunger for goals, as he proved last week when he became the record scorer in men's international football thanks to a late brace in Portugal's World Cup qualifying win over Ireland.
Bookmakers are treating the superstar forward with plenty of respect in both match and long-term markets. He is 1-2 with Betfred and Hills to score at any time against Newcastle, 2-1 to notch first, and 11-5 with Betfred, Coral and Ladbrokes to find the net at least twice.
Ronaldo is 5-1 to win the Premier League Golden Boot, which is the same price as Liverpool's Mohamed Salah with Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku 100-30 favourite and Harry Kane 7-1.
The veteran was Serie A's top scorer with Juventus last season, finishing five goals ahead of Inter's Lukaku, and he is 6-1 favourite to be named PFA Player of the Year, an award he won in 2006-07 and 2007-08.
Bet365 make Ronaldo 10-1 to score 30 or more league goals this season while he is 6-5 to bag 20 or fewer.
