Strasbourg vs Crystal Palace preview

Crystal Palace have made a solid start to life in the Conference League, recording wins over Dynamo Kyiv and AZ Alkmaar either side of a surprise home loss to AEK Larnaca.

That leaves the Eagles ninth in the standings at the halfway point of the league phase, but still with work to do if they are to finish in the top eight and book an automatic spot in the round of 16.

Strasbourg are a point better off than Palace in seventh and they continue to impress under south-London born Liam Rosenior, who led them to a seventh-place finish in Ligue 1 last season and has them sitting fifth in the French top flight.

Rosenior has built much of this season's success on a strong home record as Strasbourg have only lost once in eight matches at the Stade de la Meinau and have conceded just three goals.

Le Racing have also scored in seven straight home fixtures, but they have only netted more than once in three of those games and they will be coming up against a resilient Palace defence on Thursday.

Palace have kept three clean-sheets in this season's Conference League (including qualifying) while only leaders Arsenal have conceded fewer goals in the Premier League - the Eagles have let in just nine in 12 league matches.

Glasner's side have conceded in only one of their last five games, while under 2.5 goals would have been a winning bet in five of their last seven fixtures.

It is also worth noting that a draw would be a decent result for both teams given they have winnable fixtures to come in the final two rounds of fixtures, and although there will be no settling for a point in Alsace, there may be a safety first approach on display, increasing the likelihood for defences to be on top.

Godo Strasbourg's main man in Europe

Another London-born member of the Strasbourg contingent, winger Martial Godo, scored and assisted in his side's last Conference League match and he has had a team-high eight shots in the competition, four of which have been on target. He can test the Palace goalkeeper.

Alsace draw would be no surprise

A draw would probably be a satisfactory result for both sides and given Strasbourg scored exactly once in four of their last seven home games and Palace have failed to net in only one of their last seven away fixtures, a 1-1 share offers the most appeal.

Martial Godo to score or assist

Strasbourg winger Godo averages a goal involvement every 83 minutes this season and he scored and assisted against Hacken in his side's last European game.

Ben Chilwell to commit two or more fouls

Chilwell will have a point to prove after an underwhelming loan spell at Palace last season and having now established himself in the Strasbourg team, he could give away at least two fouls.

Maxence Lacroix to have at least one shot

Palace defender Lacroix is into double figures for shots this season and managed three efforts in his last Conference League outing against AZ Alkmaar.
