Seattle Sounders claimed the scalp of Colorado Rapids amid their best ever start to an MLS season in March and they can do the double over their Denver counterparts.

Brian Schmetzer was reluctant to tinker with a squad who made the Western Conference semi-finals last season and his decision has been justified by a scintillating start.

The Sounders are second in their division with four wins from their opening five games, including a 2-0 win in the reverse fixture, and they are 8-1 to lift the MLS Cup - only the two Los Angeles outfits are shorter prices.

Original MLS members Colorado are yet to record a win this term and their efforts have been frustrated by red cards in each of their three home games.

Only San Jose Earthquakes finished below them in the Western Conference last term and, despite reinforcing their front line, their leaky defence continues to let them down.

Kei Kamara, the fifth-highest scorer in the competition's history with 115 goals, was a shrewd piece of business and has scored three times this season.

But they have not kept a clean sheet in 2019 as Anthony Hudson continues to chop and change his back four in search of a winning formula.

Jordan Morris, Raul Ruidiaz and Nicolas Lodeiro each boast three goals this term and provide Seattle with an edge in quality, while marauding full-backs Kelvin Leerdam and Brad Smith help them overload the box.

They should have too much for the flimsy Rapids.
