New York City’s early surge, which saw them win five of their opening six games, has petered out but Patrick Vieira’s side can continue their decent home record with a victory over Colorado Rapids.

The visitors have lost to New York Red Bulls, Sporting Kansas City and Orlando in their last three games and Anthony Hudson’s team are slowly becoming the division’s whipping boys.

Colorado have never beaten the New Yorkers and suffered a 5-1 thumping when the sides met in the Big Apple in 2016.

City’s winter recruitment has looked a success with new boy Jo Inge Berget featuring in every game since his MLS debut on matchday four and January addition Ismael Tajouri-Shradi becoming the club’s joint-top scorer with five league goals.

There have been few issues for the hosts in the final third and they have won all four of their home games this season, netting at least twice in each match and beating Dallas 3-1 and Real Salt Lake 4-0 in recent weeks.

But the Rapids will be aware there are weaknesses to be exposed. City's brittle defence was taken apart in a 4-0 defeat to rivals New York Red Bulls earlier this month, and the visitors could notch a consolation.

Recommendation
New York City to win & both teams to score
2pts 21-10 general
