Paris Saint-Germain vs Real Madrid predictions

Paris Saint-Germain ended their long wait for Champions League glory less than six weeks ago and it may not be long until they are challenging for another trophy as the French side look great value to overcome Real Madrid in the semi-final of the Club World Cup.

Some of the world's best players have worn PSG's colours in recent years, including Kylian Mbappe, who spent seven seasons in the French capital and is still waiting to get his hands on European football's biggest prize.

Mbappe finished his time at PSG with last summer's free transfer switch to Real Madrid and his opening year with the Spanish giants hasn't  gone according to plan.

The 26-year-old scored 41 goals for his new club but was also part of a team which fell short of expectations and missed out entirely on silverware.

Club World Cup success would be seen as a significant consolation prize for Los Blancos, who started the tournament with a 1-1 draw against Al Hilal and have followed with four successive victories.

Real's impressive progress has been driven by Xabi Alonso, who signed a three-year-deal as their head coach less than three weeks before the start of the tournament.

And there are already signs of the 43-year-old's influence, with the development of a high-intensity style of play and a stronger defensive foundations.

Real's assured progress to the semi-finals featured knockout-stage wins over Juventus and Borussia Dortmund which were more comfortable than the scores suggest.

Alonso's side have certainly come a long way in the space of three weeks but they are up against a PSG team who looks unrecognisable from the side which Mbappe left behind 12 months ago.

Luis Enrique is working with some incredibly talented players but has moulded them into a fantastic, mentally tough team, capable of winning matches in different ways.

Like all top teams, PSG have saved their best performances for the biggest games.

Their 5-0 demolition of Inter in the Champions League final will be remembered as one of the outstanding performances in the competitions history, and there have been signs of excellence at the Club World Cup with with a superb 4-0 win over Atletico Madrid and a 2-0 defeat of Bayern Munich.

Luis Enrique will have to make a change at the back and Lucas Beraldo is in line to deputise for banned centre-back Pacho. But his team have played the most assured football of the tournament and they can overcome another heavyweight obstacle.

Paris St-Germain vs Real Madrid bet builder predictions

Desire Doue to score any time

Doue will be full of confidence after his crucial goal against Bayern Munich and could find the net for a second successive game.

Jude Bellingham to be carded

The 22-year-old Englishman often plays in the edge and his physical approach may contribute towards a second card of the tournament.

Over 2.5 goals

Five of the last six matches between the teams have generated at least three goals and another high-scoring outome seems likely.
