Flamengo vs Esperance de Tunis predictions

Flamengo have had an impressive start to the season in Brazil, sitting top of the Serie A table after 11 matches and they should have little issue getting the better of Esperance de Tunis in their Club World Cup opener.

Former Chelsea full-back Filipe Luis has impressed in his first job in senior management, winning the Copa do Brasil, Supercopa do Brasil and Campeonato Carioca in his first year in charge.

The Brazilians have five players who were included in Carlo Ancelotti’s national team squad recently, and they have added former Arsenal midfielder Jorginho to their ranks.

The Scarlet & Blacks are rated as the likeliest non-European winners of the tournament and it is not hard to see why.

They face an Esperance side who have had little success in their previous Club World Cup campaigns, winning just one of their six games in the competition’s previous format.

The Tunisians dominate domestically and have a good record in the African Champions League, but this is a major step up on that level of competition and they look likely to fall short in this clash.

Flamengo, who have conceded just four times in their first 11 Brazilian top-flight matches, look a good bet to win to nil in Philadelphia.
