Read on for all you need to know about the Club World Cup, as well as the schedule and latest outright odds.

What is the Club World Cup?

The Fifa Club World Cup is a tournament to determine the best club side in the sport. The competition had its first edition in 2000 but has been majorly expanded for this season to include 32 teams from across the world who will play their part in eight groups of four before a straight knockout stage.

There is extra-time and penalties if knockout ties are level after 90 minutes but there is no third-placed playoff this year.

Real Madrid were the record winners of the previous format, winning it on five occasions while English sides Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea have also prevailed.

Another major change is that the tournament will now be once every four years and it has a major prize fund, with $1 billion set to be divided between the teams in the tournament, depending on what federation they are representing and their performances in the event.

Who is in the Club World Cup?

There are 32 teams from across the globe who will be taking part in this year’s Club World Cup but different federations get different weighting in terms of the amount of teams that will represent them.

As a result Europe will have 12 teams representing, including the likes of Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich. English teams will be represented by Manchester City and Chelsea who qualified after both winning the Champions League in the last five years.

There will be six South American sides, four each for Concacaf, CAF and AFC while Oceania will have just one, Auckland City. They are also the only amateur team in the event. Controversially Inter Miami were given the host spot, with Lionel Messi and co set to feature in the opening game of the tournament.
