Chicago Fire v DC United: MLS betting preview, tip, odds and TV details
Wayne Rooney's Washington club can return to form with away win
TV: Sky Sports Football, 1am Saturday night
Chicago Fire's 5-1 extinguishing of Atlanta United must seem like a distant memory for their supporters.
The club have lost four and drawn one of their five matches since that mauling of the 2018 MLS Cup winners and have also been knocked out of the Leagues Cup by Cruz Azul.
While they have suffered a sharp downturn in form, their Washington-based counterparts DC United have not fared much better.
United's sole win in their last five MLS assignments came against expansion side and doldrum-dwellers FC Cincinnati. Since that win they have lost to Atlanta and were hammered 8-1 in a friendly against Marseille.
But Ben Olsen fielded an entirely different side for that meeting with the French club and their cause will also be helped by the return of Wayne Rooney for the visit to Chicago.
Olsen stressed there was no issue with the English striker after he sat out the defeat to the Five Stripes but rather his absence was a case of giving him an "exhale for the rest of the season".
United are still in pursuit of the Eastern Conference title with 35 points on the board and they have been particularly impressive on the road, claiming four away wins, only one fewer than the number of victories they have recorded in Washington.
Fire are floundering and DC look overpriced to take the spoils.
Recommendation
DC United
