Team news

Portsmouth
Pompey have been handed a boost ahead of this game with both Tom Lowery and Joe Rafferty expected to return to the squad.

Match preview

Portsmouth boss Danny Cowley is hoping his side can show what they are made of in front of the Sky Sports cameras against Charlton on Monday night and reignite their promotion push with victory at The Valley.

Pompey have lost only one of their opening 11 matches in League One this season but draws with Plymouth and Fleetwood either side of a 3-2 defeat to Ipswich have halted their early progress.

But it would be unwise to read too much into those results given that Plymouth and Ipswich have been the two standout teams in England's third tier this campaign and Portsmouth managed to put up a fight against both sides.

As for Charlton, it has been a stop-start season and a tally of seven stalemates is holding them back.

The Addicks gave themselves a morale boost with a 4-2 win over Exeter City last Tuesday but they are still locked in mid-table and could come up short in attack in this affair with top scorer Miles Leaburn sidelined through injury.

Both of these clubs are big names in League One but Portsmouth look the more settled right now.

And Cowley's men have been particularly adept on the road, picking up ten points from a possible 15, so are worth backing in the draw-no-bet market.

Key stat

Portsmouth have won three of their five matches on the road in League One this season.
