Channel your attention on high-flying Dover
National League
Kick-offs 3pm Saturday
The National League remains incredibly tight with six points covering the top 11 teams but the division's latest leaders Dover are finding some consistency and can stretch their unbeaten league run to eight by beating Gateshead.
It is a long trip for the Kent side but they have thrived on some of their longest journeys this season, winning at Hartlepool (1-0), Halifax (2-1), Tranmere (1-0) and Torquay (2-0).
Dover have lost just three league games this season, the joint-fewest in the section, and their presence at the summit is a testament to the work done by long-serving manager Chris Kinnear, who had to completely revamp his squad in the summer.
Kinnear put his extensive knowledge of the lower leagues to good use by recruiting some excellent players and arguably the pick of the new signings was striker Ryan Bird, who has scored nine goals in 17 league games.
Bird bagged a brace as Dover won 3-1 at home to promotion rivals Woking on Tuesday, taking him joint-top of the league's scoring charts alongside Boreham Wood's Bruno Andrade.
Dover's new-look side should get better as the season progresses and they look overpriced outsiders to triumph at mid-table Gateshead, who are still getting used to life without departed manager Neil Aspin, who joined Port Vale earlier this month.
The Heed have lost two of their last three games and may struggle to cope with the leaders.
Bromley dropped out of the playoff places after losing 3-2 at home to Maidenhead on Tuesday but they look overpriced to return to winning ways at Boreham Wood, who are one place and one point worse off.
There is little to choose between the teams but Bromley had won four out of five before their midweek loss and needn't be fearful of Wood, who drew 0-0 at lowly Guiseley on Tuesday.
