The New Saints and Linfield played out a tight encounter in the first leg of their all-British Champions League qualifier last week before the Welsh side came out on top 1-0.

Linfield will not be lining up for the reverse fixture at Windsor Park without hope, however, as they went close on numerous occasions and were denied by a strong performance from TNS goalkeeper Connor Roberts.

With Linfield having to force the issue, the second leg could become an open affair. Both teams found the net in five of TNS’s six European ties last season and the same occurred in four of Linfield’s six.

Given the circumstances, with the home team having to chase the game as they look to secure progress, it could open up into a high-scoring game, and both teams are fancied to find the net.

Elsewhere there is plenty still to play for in all four of the other Champions League ties this evening, which all ended goalless in their first legs.

Ferencvaros and Cluj, solid European propositions, are long odds-on to win at home while Maribor and Slovan Bratislava face tricky away trips to Shakthyor Soligorsk and Dinamo Batumi.
