Russell Martin, a master in the art of calling out his players, was at it again at the weekend.

The Rangers boss publicly berated his team following a tame end to their 1-1 draw at Motherwell.

Southampton fans would have been rolling their eyes at Martin's outburst, as it reminded them of several dressing-downs their former boss gave Saints players before he was axed last season.

They rarely did any good at St Mary's but Martin's meltdown should garner a better response from the Light Blues, one which leads to victory over Viktoria Plzen in the first leg of their Champions League third round qualifier.

The Gers look to have enough in their favour to warrant support at Ibrox.

First, they were decent enough when beating Panathinaikos 2-0 at home in the first leg in the previous round.

And Plzen, European mainstays over recent years, are in the awkward position of heading to Scotland while their star man Pavel Sulc negotiates a move to Lyon.

They are also missing midfielder Adrian Zeljkovic, who was sent off in their 3-1 win at Servette in the last round.
