PSG or Inter to join the elite? Most successful Champions League teams ranked

Another name will be added to the list of Champions League winners in Munich on Saturday night after Paris Saint-Germain play Inter in the final of the 2024-25 competition. PSG are yet to record their first victory in the competition while Inter are seeking their first success since 2010.

Teams from Spain (eight wins), England (four wins) or Germany (two wins) have won each year since 2011, but that trend is set to change this year with the trophy heading to either France or Italy.

Most successful Champions League clubs

Real Madrid's record as the most successful team in European Cup/Champions League finals is in no danger as with 15 they have more than twice as many wins as any other club. Madrid have also lost only three of the 18 finals they have contested.

Inter's city rivals Milan are second in the list of all-time winners with seven, followed by Bayern Munich and Liverpool with six wins each.

Clubs with the most defeats in the Champions League final

Juventus have lost more Champions League or European Cup finals than any other team. The Italian side have appeared in nine finals but won just two of them. 

They have lost five times since their last win in 1996.

Inter are joint-sixth on the list of most frequent final losers with three defeats at the final hurdle.

How PSG and Inter fared in their most recent Champions League finals

PSG have appeared in only one Champions League final, losing 1-0 to Bayern Munich when the delayed final of the 2019-20 season was played in August 2020.
