Paris St-Germain vs Aston Villa predictions
Paris St-Germain had 53 shots, 19 of them on target, in Champions League home games against Manchester City and Liverpool and the French champions have another Premier League defence in their sights in the quarter-finals.
Aston Villa arrive in Paris on a seven-match winning streak but manager Unai Emery may suffer an entertaining first-leg defeat against his former club.
Emery was in charge of PSG in March 2017 when they blew a 4-0 first-leg lead to lose 6-5 on aggregate against Luis Enrique's Barcelona in an extraordinary Champions League last-16 tie.
The Spanish coaches meet again in the last eight and Enrique has enhanced his reputation after a patchy start to PSG's post-Kylian Mbappe era.
They looked in danger of suffering an early exit after league-phase defeats to Arsenal, Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich.
However, the Parisians beat RB Salzburg 3-0, Manchester City 4-2 and Stuttgart 4-1 in their final three fixtures and thrashed Ligue 1 rivals Brest 10-0 on aggregate in the playoff round.
The victory over City was a crucial moment in PSG's season. They trailed the English champions 2-0 early in the second half but roared back to win 4-2, racking up 26 shots to the Citizens' nine.
PSG were even more dominant in their last-16 first leg at home to runaway Premier League leaders Liverpool, who pinched a 1-0 win despite having just two attempts at goal to their hosts' 27.
Ousmane Dembele's early strike at Anfield took the tie to extra-time before PSG prevailed on penalties, having had 18 shots on target over the two legs.
Backing the French champions to win and both teams to score looks a good bet as Villa's attacking unit has been revitalised by the January arrivals of Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio, who is permitted to play against his parent club.
Emery's men are still fighting on three fronts, having reached the FA Cup semi-finals and moved to within two points of the Premier League's top four thanks to last week's wins over Brighton and Nottingham Forest.
Villa's recent hot streak coincided with a fairly soft run of fixtures and their only clean sheet in their last five Champions League games came at home to Club Brugge, who were reduced to ten men inside the first 20 minutes.
They conceded twice in wins over Celtic and struggling RB Leipzig at the end of the league phase, either side of a 1-0 defeat at Monaco, and PSG could have too much firepower for Villa in Paris.
