Manchester City confirmed top spot in Champions League Group F and seeded status in the round of 16 draw (due to take place in Nyon on Monday) by beating Hoffenheim 2-1 at the Etihad on Wednesday and are 7-2 market leaders to win the competition.

Three other English teams accompany the Citizens in the knockout stage but City are 8-15 with bet365 to go the furthest of the quartet.

Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester United finished second in their groups and are more likely to land a tough draw in the round of 16.

Liverpool are 9-1 fifth favourites to lift the trophy while Tottenham and United are much further down the list at 30-1 at 40-1.

Holders Real Madrid are 12-1 to win the competition for a fourth successive season while La Liga rivals Barcelona are second favourites 5-1.

Big-spending duo Juventus and Paris St-Germain complete the top four in the betting at 6-1 and 8-1.

Bundesliga leaders Borussia Dortmund were market movers this week - shrinking from 40-1 to 33-1 outright after pipping Atletico Madrid to top spot in Group A.

Atletico slipped into second place after drawing 0-0 away to Bruges and have been big drifters - easing from 14-1 to 20-1.

Bayern Munich clinched top spot in Group E and remained unbeaten after drawing 3-3 away to Ajax but are no longer among the most feared teams on the continent and can be backed at a best-priced 11-1.

However, they begin the knockout stage without suspended forward Thomas Muller, who was sent off at the Amsterdam Arena.
