Inter vs Liverpool preview

Liverpool fans hoped that last month's 1-0 Champions League win over Real Madrid at Anfield would be a turning point for the Reds after a tough start to the season.

Arne Slot's men produced their best performance of the campaign to outclass Real, keeping superstar striker Kylian Mbappe quiet and forcing goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois into a string of fine saves.

However, that victory was followed by 3-0 Premier League losses to Manchester City and Nottingham Forest and a 4-1 home defeat to PSV, who had been 15-2 just to win at Anfield.

Liverpool's poor league form continued with Saturday's 3-3 draw at Leeds, where the Reds let slip 2-0 and 3-2 leads in the second half, adding to the frustration of unused substitute Mohamed Salah.

The Egyptian inspired the Reds' Premier League triumph in Slot's first season but he has been left out of the travelling party for Tuesday's trip to Inter after criticising the manager and the club in an angry interview.

Inter, beaten 5-0 by Paris Saint-Germain in last season's final, enjoyed a soft start to the 2025-26 league phase, winning their first four games against Ajax, Slavia Prague, Union Saint-Gilloise and Kairat Almaty.

They conceded a 93rd-minute goal to lose 2-1 at Atletico Madrid on matchday five but are worthy favourites at San Siro, where Inter to win and both teams to score looks a good bet.

Liverpool have scored in four of their five away defeats this term and the exception was the 3-0 loss at City in which Virgil van Dijk had a first-half effort controversially ruled out by VAR.

But Van Dijk's sloppy performances at the other end of the pitch are a major concern, especially as Inter striker Lautaro Martinez is in sizzling form.

The Nerazzurri put four goals past a rock-solid Como side in Serie A at the weekend and, having beaten Barcelona 7-6 on aggregate in last term's semi-finals, they can claim another entertaining win.

Card magnet Bradley could face a challenging night

Liverpool right-back Conor Bradley returned from injury at Leeds on Saturday, picking up his fifth yellow card in just 602 minutes of Premier League action this season.

Bradley will be suspended for Saturday's clash with Brighton and he may struggle to stay out of trouble against Inter, having been booked as a second-half sub against Atletico and Galatasaray this season.

Back Inter's Dimarco to make his mark early on

Inter wing-back Federico Dimarco is sure to test Bradley's defensive mettle and he is worth a small bet to open the scoring on Tuesday.

Dimarco has scored in two of his last six Serie A games at San Siro and the Italy international averages three shots per 90 minutes in the Champions League this season.

Inter vs Liverpool Bet Builder

Over 2.5 goals

There have been over 2.5 goals in 11 of Inter's last 13 Champions League matches and the exceptions were their 2-0 away wins over Feyenoord and Ajax.

Federico Dimarco to have two or more shots

Inter's attack-minded wing-back has had three, four, two, two and four shots in his first five Champions League appearances this term.

Lautaro Martinez to score at any time

The Argentina international has scored eight goals in his last five home Champions League games, also finding the net four times in his last four Serie A matches.
