Super Spurs shine at Wembley

Tottenham are 16-1 to win the Champions League after thrashing Borussia Dortmund 3-0 in the first leg of their last-16 tie at Wembley.

Heung-Min Son opened the scoring early in the second half after a delicious cross from Jan Vertonghen, who then popped up with the second. Substitute Fernando Llorente added a third to put Tottenham in total command before the return leg.

Spurs are 1-20 to qualify, while the Bundesliga leaders are 10-1 to reach the quarter-finals.

Borussia Dortmund profile

How they qualified
It was going to be difficult for Dortmund to fail to qualify with Club Brugge and Monaco in the section, but they topped the group ahead of Atletico Madrid, beating the Spanish side 4-0 at home. Lucien Favre's men held the best defensive record with just two goals conceded.

Form
Dortmund still lead the Bundesliga, although they have gone three matches without a win and losing a three-goal lead in a draw with Hoffenheim on Saturday was a major blow. They were also knocked out of the German Cup by Werder Bremen on penalties.

Winter transfer action
Young centre-back Leonardo Balerdi is one for the future and, while Christian Pulisic was sold to Chelsea, he has been loaned back.

Prospects
Even if Dortmund progress past injury-hit Spurs there are better betting options.

Tottenham profile

How they qualified
Tottenham looked cooked after gaining just one point from three games before late goals in wins at home to Inter and PSV gave them a chance of securing a last-16 spot, an opportunity which was taken with a 1-1 draw against a much-changed Barcelona.

Form
Despite injuries to Harry Kane and Dele Alli and their exits from two domestic cup competitions, Spurs are in the title mix after winning ten of their last 12 league outings.

Winter transfer action
Just as they did in the summer, Spurs failed to strengthen. Mousa Dembele and George-Kevin Nkoudou departed.

Prospects
It is more than 4,000 days since Spurs won a trophy and they are unlikely to break that drought in the biggest competition of the lot given Tottenham have lost to Barca, Inter, Manchester City, Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal this season.

Schedule

First leg: Wembley (London), February 13
