Paris St-Germain's first Champions League title was well worth the wait as the French champions thrashed Inter 5-0 in Saturday's final.

Coral had offered pre-match odds of 50-1 about the 5-0 correct score in Munich and PSG were available to back at 20-1 at the start of the competition.

Luis Enrique's men are 15-2 to retain the trophy next season when their rivals will include six Premier League clubs.

PSG winger Desire Doue, who only turns 20 on Tuesday, was named player of the match in the final after scoring twice and another teenager, Senny Mayulu, notched their fifth goal.

The future certainly looks bright for the Parisians but Europe's biggest clubs are queuing up to knock them off their perch in the 2025-26 Champions League.

Domestic distractions may hamper Premier League contenders

Premier League champions Liverpool finished top of the Champions League table, winning seven of their eight matches in the new-look league phase, and they are narrow favourites to lift the trophy next season.

The Reds cruised to the domestic title in their first season under Arne Slot and ran PSG close in the round of 16, losing on penalties after a compelling 1-1 aggregate draw.

Liverpool spearhead a six-pronged English attack on the 2025-26 Champions League as Europa League winners Tottenham have qualified along with Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea and Newcastle.

City flopped as 11-4 ante-post favourites this term, losing to Real Madrid in the playoff round after finishing 22nd in the 36-team league table.

Real, 7-2 second-favourites, were outclassed by Arsenal in the quarter-finals and bet365 offer even-money that the trophy is won by an English club next season.

Liverpool look short enough, having retained Anfield icons Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk but lost Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real.

Next season's Premier League title betting suggests a battle royale between the Reds, City and Arsenal while Newcastle and Chelsea are also respected in the market.

That could be a problem for the English clubs as this term's Europa League finalists Spurs and Manchester United highlighted the difficulty of maintaining standards in the Premier League amid continental commitments.

Spain could reign in 2025-26 Champions League

Backing a Spanish winner of the 2025-26 Champions League is more appealing.

Barcelona played some dazzling football en route to the last four and Real Madrid have snapped up Xabi Alonso, Europe's hottest managerial talent.

Both La Liga powerhouses were undermined by defensive injury crises although Barca, who won the domestic double, were still only seconds away from reaching the Champions League final before Inter's stunning fightback at San Siro.

Their top goalscorer Robert Lewandowski turns 37 in August but 16 of the 24 outfield players used by Hansi Flick in Europe were aged 25 or younger.

The 17-year-old Lamine Yamal and 22-year-old playmaker Pedri are among Barca's gems and a little more defensive nous would make Flick's men formidable contenders.

Alonso's Bayer Leverkusen side were unbeaten Bundesliga champions and Europa League runners-up in 2023-24 and it will be fascinating to see how he revamps Carlo Ancelotti's Real.

Integrating Alexander-Arnold and finding a system that gets the best out of Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham and Vincius Jr will be crucial for Real, who have won six of the last 12 Champions League finals.

Two of their triumphs came against Atletico Madrid, who are a useful third-string for Spain backers with Athletic Bilbao and Villarreal further down the outright betting.

2025-26 Champions League nationality of winner odds

Here are the latest odds for next season's Champions League nationality of winner

Fast-finishing Dortmund look dangerous outsiders

For many years the narrative surrounding PSG was that they struggled in big Champions League games because they had things too easy in Ligue 1.

That theory has been undermined by this term's steely performances, coming from 2-0 down to beat City 4-2 in January before knocking out Liverpool, Aston Villa and Arsenal.

PSG's domestic dominance helped Enrique manage his players' workloads and defender Presnel Kimpembe was their only injury absentee for the final.

German champions Bayern Munich, in contrast, were missing key men Jamal Musiala, Alphonso Davies, Dayot Upamecano and Manuel Neuer for their 4-3 aggregate defeat to Inter in the quarter-finals.

Bayern were 12-1 ante-post and make limited appeal at shorter odds next season but Borussia Dortmund could be worth chancing at 50-1.

Runners-up to Real in 2023-2024, BVB had a poor start to the campaign under new manager Nuri Sahin, who was sacked in January.

His successor Niko Kovac, who led Bayern Munich to the domestic double in 2018-19, inspired a stunning late surge into the Bundesliga's top four.

BVB were 25-1 to qualify for the Champions League in mid-March but won seven of their last eight games, drawing 2-2 at champions Bayern in the other one.

Despite their difficult season, Dortmund reached the Champions League quarter-finals, beating Sporting in the playoff round and Lille in the last 16.

They lost 4-0 at Barcelona in the quarter-final first leg but won the return fixture 3-1 thanks to a hat-trick from Serhou Guirassy, who shared the Golden Boot with Barca's Raphinha.

BVB's sharp recruitment keeps them competitive – they made a profit of €100m selling Ousmane Dembele to Barca in 2017.

Kovac should have an exciting squad to work with next term and Sunderland's Jobe Bellingham and Lyon's Rayan Cherki are among this summer's reported targets.

The 2024-25 Champions League finalists PSG and Inter were 20-1 and 25-1 ante-post so punters should not just focus on the market leaders in a fascinating 2025-26 heat.
