Match preview

Celtic slipped to the bottom of Champions League Group F after a 3-1 loss away to RB Leipzig last Wednesday and may struggle to find a response against the Germans in Glasgow on matchday four.

There have been positives for Celtic to take from their three matches but their backs are against the wall after two losses and and a draw.

Ange Postecoglu's side were the better team in the 1-1 draw away to Shakhtar Donetsk and went toe to toe with Leipzig last week before the game was taken away from them by a second-half double from Andre Silva.

Ultimately it was RB Leipzig's attacking strength which made the difference, and a similar story could unfold in Glasgow.

Celtic cannot match Leipzig's quality and would have a better chance if they turn the contest into a tight, tactical affair.

However, it is against Postecoglu's instincts to play in a negative fashion and he knows that only a victory will give Celtic a realistic chance of qualifying.

Postecoglu will probably roll the dice again by urging his players on to the front foot, but there will be spaces for Leipzig to exploit and their high-class attackers are unlikely to disappoint.

Silva and Christopher Nkunku were on target last Wednesday but Dominik Szoboszlai and Timo Werner are as likely to play match-winning roles in Glasgow.

They are arguably the second-best front four that the Bundesliga has to offer and they should be too hot to handle.
