Paderborn v Borussia Dortmund

Best bet

Borussia Dortmund -1 handicap
1pt 10-11 general

Liam Flin's match preview

Borussia Dortmund fans will need a lift after their side all but handed Bayern Munich the Bundesliga title with defeat in Der Klassiker last time out and a comprehensive win over lowly Paderborn could give the club a boost.

There’s incentive to keep winning games for Lucien Favre’s men, who will be looking over their shoulder with a number of teams in the hunt for a Champions League qualification position.

And victory should be relatively straightforward against basement boys Paderborn, who have won only four league matches this season and have drawn all three of their matches since the restart with mediocre Augsburg, Hoffenheim and Fortuna Dusseldorf outfits.

They have kept a clean sheet in only one of their 14 home assignments in this season’s Bundesliga and carry minimal threat going forwards, with five-goal Streli Mamba their leading scorer in the top flight this term.

Dortmund were dealt a blow by Erling Haaland limping off with a knee injury in the 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich last time out but Jadon Sancho is coming back to starting fitness and their devastating attack, that has have netted 74 league goals this campaign, should easily find a way through the hosts.

Of Dortmund’s last 11 wins in the league, nine have been by at least two goals and given Padeborn’s frailties it is difficult to envisage anything other than a comfortable away win.

Paderborn led Dortmund 3-0 in the reverse fixture but threw away their advantage to draw 3-3, highlighting how brittle they can be against attacking blitzes from Favre’s men and backing the visitors on the handicap could be a solid punting strategy.

Monchengladbach v Union Berlin

Where to watch

BT Sport, 2.30pm Sunday

Best bet

Both teams to score
1pt 8-11 general

Alex Wrigley's match preview

Borussia Monchengladbach were involved in a rare goalless draw on Tuesday as they visited relegation-threatened Werder Bremen, but the Champions League hopefuls will be expected to return to scoring form at Borussia-Park.

The Foals have failed to score just once at home in the Bundesliga this season and that came way back in August 2019 against Schalke.

Since then they have netted 31 goals in 13 home assignments but, with just two clean sheets to their name, it’s unlikely that a single goal will clinch them maximum points.

Union Berlin have found the net in nine of their last 11 road trips and managed a shock 2-0 win on home soil in November's reverse fixture, so Gladbach’s defence is likely to come under pressure.

With a rearguard so prone to collapse, betting for goals at both ends looks to be the value.
