Bristol City v Fulham match preview

Lee Johnson said Bristol City's 1-1 draw with Millwall last time out should be their "baseline performance" this season but the Robins may have to alter their gameplan to tame in-form Fulham at Ashton Gate.

The draw at the Den was a scrappy affair which played to City's physical strengths. But keeping tabs on a Fulham side who love to keep possession could be a tall order, especially given the home side's recent form.

The Robins are winless in their last four assignments, losing to Leeds, West Brom and Huddersfield before the Millwall draw, highlighting their struggles against the division's big guns.

They allowed 57 shots across those three defeats, finding the net only once themselves, and their defensive vulnerabilities should be scrutinised by the Cottagers.

Aleksandar Mitrovic is the Sky Bet Championship's top goalscorer with 23 strikes and is ably supported by Ivan Cavaleiro and Anthony Knockaert on either flank.

City are a patchy side by nature and Johnson is under increasing pressure after slipping out of the playoff spots.

This season inconsistency has been the hallmark of the club, who have used 31 players, and the stakes may be higher given this game marks the club's 125th anniversary.

The atmosphere should be buoyant but that's unlikely to fluster a collected Fulham outfit who have lost only four league matches away from home this term and still have an outside shot of landing an automatic-promotion berth.

Key stat

Bristol City have won only seven of their 17 home games in the Championship this season.
