Brentford v Blackburn match preview

Brentford were a popular fancy to secure promotion to the Premier League this season, and although that remains a possibility with Thomas Frank's side fourth in the Sky Bet Championship, they haven’t made things easy for themselves.

The Bees have won just two of their last six matches, failing to capitalise on the stuttering form of those around them, Leeds and Fulham in particular.

When they are switched on they have looked one of the best sides in the division, as in their 5-1 thumping of Hull at the start of this month, and they face Blackburn knowing they can put the pressure on their promotion rivals with a win.

The visitors have had a solid campaign but their away form has let them down and they have lost eight of their 16 road matches.

However, that hasn’t stopped them finding the net and they have failed to notch only twice in 16 away games, which makes both sides to score look an interesting wager.

Brentford boast an array of talent in attack and they have scored the second-most goals in the Championship behind West Brom, thanks largely to striker Ollie Watkins, who has 20 this season. They also have the best home goal difference.

But defensively they have started to slip up and they have not kept a clean sheet in their last five matches.

That could spell trouble against a Blackburn side who have racked up eight goals in their last three away games, and 26 for the season. Only Sheffield Wednesday have scored more.

Lunchtime kick-offs can be slow but Blackburn are only three points off the playoffs and with plenty on the line we could be in for an entertaining clash at Griffin Park.

Key stat

Both teams have scored in three of the last four meetings at Griffin Park.
