Boca Juniors can edge the battle of Buenos Aires in Madrid
River Plate missing key forwards for vital tie
Copa Libertadores final
FreeSports/BT Sport 1, Sunday 7.30pm
Boca Juniors meeting River Plate in the Copa Libertadores final was always going to be a tussle of earth-shattering proportions.
Add to it a series of delays and postponements, a feisty first leg and the decision to move the second leg to another continent and the meeting at Real Madrid's Bernabeu stadium has the makings of a seriously chaotic clash.
River Plate fought back to level twice in a 2-2 draw in the game at La Bombonera but they are light on attacking personnel and Boca can edge arguably the biggest game in their 113-year history.
Rafael Borre has netted three goals in the Libertadores for Los Millonarios this term but he is suspended and River Plate are also without former Sunderland striker Ignacio Scocco.
They have tasted defeat in a cup competition since the first leg, falling in a penalty shootout against Gimnasia in the Copa Argentina semi-final, and Boca’s wealth of experience could prove the difference.
Dario Benedetto has scored four goals in five Libertadores appearances this year, while Carlos Tevez, Mauro Zarate and Fernando Gago all know what it takes to win a high-profile fixture in Europe.
Boca are unbeaten in their last five matches across all competitions, winning their two league games since the first leg 1-0, highlighting their ability to grind out results as they may need to in the Spanish capital.
They are five points superior to their Buenos Aires rivals in the league and can book their spot in the Club World Cup with victory.
