Bristol Rovers v Sunderland 7.45pm

Sunderland's Sky Bet League One promotion hopes have had a few setbacks but the Black Cats can return to winning ways with a victory over Bristol Rovers at the Memorial Ground.

The Wearsiders' winless sequence extended to three games when they conceded a last-gasp equaliser in Saturday's 2-2 draw at home to Gillingham.

However, they are in the thick of the promotion race with just three points separating them from second-placed Rotherham.

The big positive to come out of the Gillingham game were the two goals from striker Kyle Lafferty.

It was the Northern Ireland striker's first start of the season and he delivered a convincing performance which augurs well for the rest of the campaign.

Bristol Rovers could have their hands full at the back and may be short of quality up front with top scorer Jonson Clarke-Harris battling to overcome a shoulder injury.

The Pirates struggled on Saturday, losing 3-1 away to a youthful Southend side, and the pressure is building on manager Ben Garner.

A disastrous start to the year – eight defeats in 12 league games – has seen Rovers slip from seventh to 15th and they are unlikely to turn the tide against the biggest club in the division.

Portsmouth v Fleetwood Town 7.45pm

Portsmouth are protecting the only unbeaten home record in the EFL but it could come under threat from Fleetwood.

Only Premier League sides Southampton and Arsenal have conquered Portsmouth at their Fratton Park fortress this season but there are signs that Kenny Jackett's side are running out of steam.

They have lost four of their last seven matches, including a 2-0 defeat at Peterborough on Saturday when they lost the shot count 21-8.

Pompey looked vulnerable without influential central defender Christian Burgess, who completes his two-match ban against the Cod Army.

Joey Barton's visitors showed plenty of bottle on their last two road trips – drawing 1-1 at Sunderland and winning 1-0 at Ipswich – and are worth backing to avoid defeat.
