DR Congo to beat Uganda 3.30pm

DR Congo have an excellent recent record at the Africa Cup of Nations – they reached the semi-finals in 2015 and the last eight in 2017 – and they look solid favourites to start this summer's challenge by beating Uganda. Another bold showing is possible for the Leopards but Uganda have plenty to prove after mustering just one point at the 2017 finals.

Venezuela to beat Bolivia 8pm

Bolivia have won just one of 24 Copa America matches since hosting the competition in 1997 and they are likely to bow out of the 2019 event with a loss to Venezuela in Belo Horizonte. Venezuela have showed defensive strength to achieve draws against Peru and Brazil but they should be on the front foot against Bolivia as they chase a quarter-final berth.

Guinea to beat Madagascar 9pm

Madagascar are making their debut at the Africa Cup of Nations and could be taught a harsh lesson by Guinea in their Group B opener. The Madagascans came through a weak qualifying section ahead of Equatorial Guinea and Sudan but face a tougher contest against Guinea, whose strong squad includes Napoli midfielder Amadou Diawara and Liverpool's Naby Keita.
