Besiktas to ensure progression to the knockout stage

Besiktas have a 100 per cent record in Group G and can wrap up a place in the knockout stage by beating Monaco in Istanbul.

The Turkish champions were in pot three when the draw was made but have performed way above expectations.

They came from behind to defeat Monaco 2-1 on matchday three courtesy of two goals from striker Cenk Tosun, a rising star of Turkish football.

Cenk has been keeping new signing Alvaro Negredo out of the team but is just part of a lively three-pronged attack featuring Ryan Babel and Anderson Talisca.

While Besiktas have flourished, Monaco are struggling to reach the standards set when they reached the Champions League semi-finals last season.

The Ligue 1 champions have taken only one point from three games and are heading for a group-stage exit.
