Bayern should boss Russian debutants

The world’s best goalkeeper, Manuel Neuer, has been excused from Bayern Munich’s trip to Rostov but there will be no shortage of quality in the visiting team’s line-up as they go in search of the win they need to stay in the hunt for top spot in Group D.

Bayern know a victory will give them a shot at overhauling Atletico on matchday six and they are no bigger than 2-7 to get the job done.

Debutants Rostov have had their moments, drawing 2-2 at home to PSV and twice losing by a single goal to 2016 finalists Atletico Madrid, but they were swept aside 5-0 by Bayern on matchday one.

That game was barely a contest with the Germans bossing the shot count 19 to five and amassing 72 per cent possession.

It may be slightly closer in chilly Rostov but Bayern should be in charge by half-time.
