Wrexham slipped from first to third in the National League after drawing 0-0 at home to Halifax on Tuesday but the Welsh side are likely to remain big players in the promotion race and can bounce back by beating struggling Braintree in Essex.

Last season Wrexham finished three points outside the playoffs and often struggled for goals - their league tally of 49 was the lowest of the top 15 clubs.

But they have revamped their attack and summer signing Mike Fondop has led the charge, scoring five goals in nine games since switching from Guiseley.

Wrexham also have the best defensive record in the division and look solid odds-on favourites against basement boys Braintree, who are chasing their first win.

Reaching the playoffs will be the aim for mid-table Barrow, who will continue to rely heavily on home results.

The Bluebirds have won three of four games at Holker Street and should be too strong for third-bottom Dagenham and Redbridge.
